The International body binding most African countries, ECOWAS through it Court has urged the Federal government of Nigeria to pay the sum of N88 million naira to the people of Southeastern region over damages done to their landmines during the Nigeria civil war in 1967.
According to channel Television report, Justice Nwoke Obinna has ordered the FG to begin paying back the damages done to the South Eastern region landmines with the period of ONE month, 15 days.
Meanwhile, in 2012, Landmines victims has dragged he FG to court urging them to evacuate all the explosive objects stockpiled in all the southeastern states during the civil war.
However, South easterners has said that if after the FG refuses to obey the ECOWAS it clearly proves that the Nigerian government are negligence to their fundamental right.
The plaintiffs had claimed N100bn as compensatory and general damages from the government.
