A UN personnel who witnessed what happened that very morning noted that the soldiers said that they received information by the SSS that they suspected some strange movement going on within the building (Red Roof).
Another source (name withheld for security reason) said that since after the incident the United Nation had suspended all its humanitarian activities in the state.
The source Narrative:
"The soldiers came and surrounded all entrance to the building in order not to let any official escape. At about 3: am, they demanded a permit to search the building for arms.
" The UN officials debunked their request because it is against the UN policy if at all they are to be allowed in to carry out their investigation it shouldn't be at such an odd hour.
The soldiers were reportedly lead by one Colonel who explained to the UN officials that they received information by the SSS that arms were being smuggled into the building in large wooden containers.
The official of the UN replied the Colonel by saying that there was nothing like that because all the wooden containers contains materials that will be used to renovate the humanitarian building (Red Roof)
"The UN gatemen shut the gate when the soldiers tried to force themselves into the building.
" finally at about 7: am in the morning, the soldiers were allowed to penetrate into the building to carry out their search, at last, they found nothing ."
Alhaji Ahmad Shehu, leader of a civil Society group in Borno state was present shortly after the soldiers vacated the building.
According to Alhaji Shehu
"Last night information came to me that military men have invaded the UN building.
"But whatever may be their reason, the approach is wrong because it does not indicate security, meanwhile, people are already having bad impression toward the UN humanitarian officials, this step could lead to the Internally Displaced Persons to see them as their enemies.
"It is also sad to hear this morning that all flight from the UN has been cancelled due to what happened this morning, although not fully confirmed."
All effort made to get in touch with the spokesperson of the Borno state military command proved effortless as their phone was switched off.
