The parishioners of St. Philip Catholic Church, where recently some group of unidentified gunmen invaded the church and opened gunfire at worshippers leading to the death of over 100 worshippers may have to search for an alternative venue to conduct their Sunday service until the Policemen unmount and vacate the church premises.
The policemen deployed to the church premises to guard it against further attack might not be leaving the church premises quickly in other to conduct a proper investigation that resulted in the tragedy.
Meanwhile, the traditional leader of the Ozubulu, of Ekwusigo local government of Anambra state has described the list of casualties brought put by the church Diocese as incomplete as she names are still missing in the list.
A report has it that, Rev fr. Hyginus Aghaulo who is the Director of communication of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi told the vanguard in a telephone call that the Church Dioceses will not mount pressure on the policemen to vacate the church premises because they are only doing their job.
According to Rev fr. Hyginus:
"The Diocese if not going to pressurize the police to vacate the church premises without completing their job.
" If the policemen remove all the security gadgets placed in all corners of the church, we will be glad to worship in the church but if the gadgets remain there, we will look for another venue to worship because we cannot force the police to dismiss from the Church premises. "
ORIGIN OF THE PROBLEM:
more also, the traditional leader of the community, Igwe Nnamdi Oruche noted that the problem that resulted in the recent killing started approximately 10 years ago when the Ozubulu Development Union in South Africa wanted to elect a new President-general over there.
This resulted to a heavy disagreement over who will be the leader of the branch in South Africa which eventually dismissed the branch.
After the dismissal in South Africa, the President-General both in the Ozubulu community and its Diaspora, Maxi Norbert Anigbogu invited the both parties back home for a peaceful settlement.
"When the both factions returned home, a traditional oath was prepared for them to make, the singular reason for the oath is in order for the both to enthrone brotherliness anywhere they are, which they refused in the sense that they were Christians and it is against the Biblical law.
" The Bible method was then employed by the Catholic priest, Rev fr. Chidolue which both of them accepted and appreciated it.
"After a while, the conflict regenerated, some of them who reneged on the agreement made during the oath-taking said that, since the igwe Is absent at the oath taking all what happened there remains invalid."
Information gathered by Ngnaija.com has it that after the problem regenerated, the executive of the ODU reinvited the two factions back home which is now approximately three years ago. They both returned, the aggrieved parties visited the Blessed sacrament of St. Micheal Catholic church in Ozubulu after that they embraces each other again.
SIMILAR EVENT IN 2017
The traditional leader of the community noted that the community has previously witnessed such a similar event in 2017. According to him he said that the problem started when four vigilante group member were murdered in coldblooded in Ukpor, a neighbouring village.
He added that a palm tree cutter who was on top of a palm tree cutting palms saw the killers where they were cutting some of the body part.
Igwe Oruche said:
"We have an old culture, our traditional deities will fetch them out one day when all the appropriate rituals are been done by us."
