Akwa Ibom police command has apprehended 15 cult member from the ukanafun Killing cartel.
THE Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested 15 persons in connection with the series of killings and kidnappings in Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo Local Government areas of the state.
Speaking through the state Police command Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, he noted that the arrest was tactically done in accordance to the recent operation purge the city that was introduced by the State commissioner of Police,
However, the police has refused to release the names of the arrested suspects for security reasons and has confirmed that the suspect were the ones who were responsible for high killing and kidnapping in the state.
Elkana, who was on a familiarisation visit to the correspondents’ chapel, weekend, said the activities of a cartel behind killings in the area had created so much fear in the people.
According to Elkana, he noted that for the police to eradicate such fears from the heart of people, the police has launched an operation which has he'll them to arrest one of the suspected.

Meanwhile, before the police apprehended the suspects, it was reported that over 21 innocent people has been killed while other kidnapped by the arrested suspects.
Investigations also us it that villages of the affected areas moved to neighbouring community where they could take shelter as a result of the high level of killing and kidnappings
