Mourinho Insists His Sending Off Was Wrong

Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho says his sending off at St. Mary's last Saturday was uncalled for.

Mourinho was sent to the stands for mistakenly stepping out of his technical area onto the pitch during the closing minutes of the 1-0 win against Southampton.




Good news for Mourinho is that the FA has opted against taking further action against him and he will now lead his side against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Mourinho Feels He Should Not Have Been Sent Off

Speaking ahead of Manchester United's Champions league game against CSKA Moscow, the Portuguese Coach welcomed the FA's decision not to punish him but was quick to note that there was no need for his sending off.

"If I am not punished, it is because there were no reasons for the sending-off," Mourinho said.

"I am happy that was recognised and that I can be doing my work normally against Crystal Palace. That is enough for me."

Despite not being comfortable with his sending off during the game, Mourinho has only good words for the Referee Craig Pawson for his professional officiating.

"Craig Pawson is one of the big talents in England," Mourinho added. "He had an amazing game. He was so calm and in control. After I watch it on TV, no camera on Craig and he made that decision."

The former Real Madrid Handler also seized the opportunity to give an update on Marouane Fellaini's injury which has ruled the Belgian out of the game against their Russian Opponents.

"He was lucky [not to be out longer]," Mourinho said. "It could have been a much worse situation.
"I expect him not to be out for a long time and after Crystal Palace there is an international break, with no pressure on Belgium, so hopefully he will be back for us.
