The Bayelsa West Senator, Mr Ben Murray Bruce has taken to his Twitter handle to call on the president of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari urging him to declare a state of emergency in the Nigeria educational sector.
"The time has come for UA Nigerians to realise that the large number of population may not automatically be an asset.
" However, A well educated large population would likely turns out to be an asset.
"But, If a large population is largely illiterate, then it is a liability.
" Nigeria unfortunately doesn't have enough skilled man power. And it is a time bomb going to explode in the next decade.
He also said that "It is not a coincidence that the most educated and developed places are also the most violent prone and epicenter of terror. Terror and violence grows where education is low in standard.
" The ten most educated nations in the world according to the world economic forum are; Finland, New Zealand, Australia, The united states of American, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland and Singapore.
"They are also the most peaceful nation in the world.
The ten uneducated nations in the world are Burkina Faso, South Sudan, Chad, Niger, Guinea, Benin Republic, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Senegal.
" It is not a surprise that some of this nations are also some of the unstable nations in the world.
"Nigeria with a population that is growing much faster than its economy most replace oil with human capital.
" The only way to do that is by investing massively in education.
"For this reason, I am calling on Mr president to immediately declare a state of emergency in the educational sector do that Nigeria can get the one million out of school children also know as Almajirin off the street and into the classroom.
" We must immediately stop spending our national wealth on state sponsored pilgrimage and high salaries for elected appointed government official.
"If we do not do this, we may soon join the list of the ten least educated nation in the world.
