Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso who was formally the Governor of Kano State until his deputy Ganduje took over from him in the year 2015.
Kwankwaso was reportedly absent in the just concluded Congress meeting held on the 5 August 2017 organized by the All Progressive Congress.
Senators representing Kano-South and Kano-North attended the meeting which was venues at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
The meeting was chairman by a sub chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas who was currently taking care of the affairs of the Congress.
Prince Nwoko Orinze, a representative of the National Leadership of the All Progressive Congress said that they were in the state to ensure the Congress election went according to the laid down rules of the National Leadership Board.
He also said that the Congress was organized to fill vacant seats.
Alhaji Muhammad Nadu Yahaya, the chairman, candidates' screening committee said all those present in the meeting had all it takes to participate in the exercise.

Addressing pressmen from DailyTrust on Saturday he said the meeting led by Abdullahi Abbas is just but a kangaroo exercise because the National Leadership Board has not given h the order to conduct any congress meeting in the state.
"I Haruna Doguwa remains the chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Kano State recognized by the National Leadership. If the party decides to hold any Congress, they ought to write to me let me approve it but there was nothing like that. Moreover, no state in Nigeria that hold any Congress today. A date will be fixed for the congress and a letter shall be written to all the States on Nigeria to hold. Their Congress in their respective States.
