Governor of Ebony state has shown support to the Military operatives deployed to the southeastern regions.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai who visited the State governor, David Umahi declared that he truly supports the military personnel deployed to carry out the operation know as Operation python Dance II.
However, the deputy Governor of Ebony state has however stated it that the people of south-east had a misconception of the Exercise.
According to the Deputy governor, he said;
"The first phase of this operation was in 2016 which recorded success without any loss of life or property.
"We support the military operation, but please let it be done in accordance with the rule, phyton is supposed to be dancing in the bush and not in the street.
Gov Umeh condemned the activities of the IPOB by saying that;
"We do not address perceived injustice through violence."
Gov Umehi has also narrated that since the Military invaded the south-east, the state has witnessed peace in terms of security.
The governor also requested for the military to establish Army formation in the boundary between the state and Cross River, in order to reduce the recurring communal clashes in the area.
Furthermore, the chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai, has stressed that the purpose of the exercise was to sharpen the skills of personnel to be able to handle internal security crisis.
The Army general noted that the exercise was not targeted at any group such as the Indigenous People Of Biafra but to enhance the security standard in the south-east.
"I want to assure the public that the Military personnel will abide by the rules of engagement and code of conduct." He said
Buratai also said that the exercise will bring about free medical outreach and sanitary services in all communities in the South East region and pleaded with the Southeasterners to show support and understanding.
